Cohen, Shlomo (Kushi)
Son of Adel and Haim, was born in Haifa in 1928. Since his early childhood he grew up without a father and his mother worked hard to support him and his younger brother, first in Haifa and then in Tel Aviv. He enjoyed his studies in the sale of newspapers on the street and sweets at the cinema, and he encouraged his mother to help him continue his studies, because he was a talented man. When he finished elementary school, the family returned to Haifa, where he studied electrical engineering and worked seven consecutive years in a workshop. He trained in writing skills, wrote a diary and was active in the Haganah from a young age, when he joined the ranks of the Carmeli Brigade in the winter of 1948 “He came to the rank of commander-in-chief and successfully guided his subordinates, liked them, and knew how to make the most of them, both in training and in combat. Was able to fulfill the promise that he fell on 16.4.1948 in a battle to conquer Kassir near Ramat Yohanan. He was buried in Kfar Ata. On the 16th of Kislev 5711 (November 16, 1950) he was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa.
