Cohen, Shai (Shalom)

Shai, son of Rachel and David Cohen, was born on 19 August 1979 in Pardes Hannah. Shai enlisted in the IDF in November 1997 and was drafted as a combat soldier in the Shimshon Battalion. On July 9, 2001, Shai was severely injured during an operation in the southern Hebron hills and was rushed to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva. His family was summoned to him, but she did not have time to see him alive. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Pardes Hannah. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to captain.
