Cohen, Nir (Nirush)
Ben Rachel and Aaron. He was born on December 21, 1979 in Dimona. A younger brother to Itzik and Yehuda. Nir grew up in Dimona, began his studies at the Palmim Elementary School and completed his studies in automotive mechanics, a beautiful and smiling boy who grew up and became a grown-up boy and led the group of friends who always consulted with him and did not move without him. Nir studied sports, played in the high school soccer team, participated in running competitions and was involved in bodybuilding training, music was his entire world and he studied guitar, and was interested in the literature and history of the Land of Israel. Very much to his family and especially worried about his mother 98, a month after his father’s death, Nir enlisted in the IDF. He dreamed of continuing his father’s path and serving in the Golani Brigade, but due to the father’s death and the need to serve close to the house he was stationed in the air force and served as a pilot in the squadron. Nir was pleased with his service, boasted about the squadron in which he served and admired his commanders. His friends in the unit told of a friend whose smile never left his face, who loved to help everyone and always treated with compassion towards his surroundings. Nir fell during his service on December 5, 1999, at the age of twenty. He was buried in the military cemetery in Dimona. Survived by a mother, two brothers and a loving girlfriend. After his fall he was promoted to corporal. In the squadron in which Nir was serving, a memorial corner was erected with words written by his friends and commanders. Nir’s mother wrote in his memory: “I loved you, my son, pure love that will build brotherhood, understanding, friendship, and finally, blood closeness, my love for you, my son, because of your exalted personality, I worshiped the eternal smile on your lips. I loved you, my son, oh God, why do you choose only the good ones? You did the best for the boy, my Nir, and the angel among us to pick. I love you my son forever, may your memory be blessed. “
