He joined the religious unit of the “Yiftah” brigade and passed all its battles, from the Syrian attack to Malkia to the Crusaders and to the ten days of fighting between the first and second cease-fire in the battles of Anaba, Al-Qubab and Daniel. Zwi fell about eight hours before the start of the second truce. On the night of 17-18 July 1948, the “Haemek” battalion seized Shilat and an outpost in the eastern part of the Korikor ridge to threaten the wing of an array Legion of Latrun. In the morning it became clear that the Legion force was holding the western part of the ridge. The enemy attacked the force in the outpost from two directions with the aid of armored vehicles, and that was forced to withdraw. In the harsh retreat in an open area under crossfire, many of the fighters fell. Zvi was injured in the shoulder, unable to withstand the rapid retreat and fell in battle on the 18th of Tammuz 5708 (18.7.1948).
