Chanukah, Shabtai (Shavei)

Chanukah, Shabtai (Shavei)

Son of Shlomo and Nuna. Was born on the 22nd of Tishrei 5719 (September 22, 1958) in Jerusalem. At the age of 16, he was hired at the Hadassah Hospital in the city and worked there for eight months in the medical archive. Won the esteem of his superiors and was presented as an example and example of devotion and precision in the work. A few months before his time, he wanted to enlist in compulsory service. Despite the urging of his worried parents, Shabi dreamed of a military career. In May 1976, in light of his firm stance, the parents gave their consent to his early enlistment as well as to his volunteering for a parachute brigade. Perhaps he underestimated his strength, because the exhausting training and the rigid frame made the boy feel a certain emotional crisis, but he overcame him and successfully completed a parachute course. Shavei Sharett served in the IDF for only one year and was destined to board the helicopter that crashed in the Jordan Valley, killing him on May 27, 1977. This disaster killed 54 soldiers and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery He left behind his parents, sisters and brother.
