Byte, Hans

Hans, son of Miriam (Mina) and Friedrich (Fritz) Byte, was born on October 5, 1901, in the city of Blyshrode, German. When he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1935, he was appointed head of the Youth Aliyah Department and was the right hand of Henrietta Szold in all her activities. Hans married and had four children, but devoted most of his time to the Youth Aliya. After the war, he went to Poland and Cyprus and traveled to all the places of absorption and training of the immigrant youth, and he was shown to be a man of understanding and feeling for the needs of others.
