Buchbinder, Yitzhak (Bochi)
Son of Shoshana and Shlomo, was born on the 19th of Tamuz, July 27, 1929 in Israel and studied in Tel Aviv. Yitzhak was a member of the Palmach for four and a half years and at the same time acquired agricultural experience in Kfar Giladi and Tel Yosef. Together with the members of his group he went to Ein Zeitim and toured the northern roads overnight, his weapon hidden from the British. Yitzhak took part in a course for commanding officers, and during his return he dealt with the digging of shelters and posts. When the war broke out he served in the Negev Brigade. In the “Ten Days” battle, in Operation “Death to the Intruder”, in an attempt to break through the Negev, he attacked the Golikat outposts on the 11th of Tammuz 5708 (July 18, 1948), and he never returned. The two surviving soldiers told his friends that Yitzhak did not want to retreat and continued to fight with the machine gun until he was hit. On the 26th of Sivan 5706 (26.6.1950) he was transferred to eternal rest of the Warburg military cemetery.
