Brodner, Shlomi


Son of Vered and Matityahu. He was born on 15 May 1976 in Kfar Sava. Shlomi was named after his uncle, Shlomo Brodner, who was killed in the Yom Kippur War. Shlomi was very similar to his uncle, and was a great and precious happiness for the Brodner family. In the garden he was a mischievous boy with a gold Lev. He began his studies at Son of-Gurion Elementary School, continued with the Son of-Zvi junior high school and graduated from the Katznelson High School in the biological track. As a high school student, he was active in the football team “Aliyah” of Hapoel Kfar Saba. At the beginning of August 1994, Shlomi enlisted in the IDF and began his army service as an armored personnel carrier driver. He fulfilled his duties with great professionalism and was a responsible and highly disciplined soldier. Based on this assessment, Shlomi was sent to an officers’ course and at the end he was placed as a company commander in the air force’s anti-aircraft battalion, and Shlomi was an outstanding officer in all fields and was very professional and determined. On December 3, 1996, Shlomi was seriously injured when a vehicle was hit during an operation, and he was taken on a flight to Rambam Hospital and there, two weeks later, on 16.12.1996, he died. He was twenty years old when he fell, and Shlomi was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Sava, leaving behind his parents and sister Tal. Wrote condolences to the family wrote battalion commander when he served Shlomi: “Shlomi served us as a soldier and commander. His ambition and determination to be a commander embodies most of all the character and seriousness in which he took life.
