Bouskila, Eliezer (‘Eli’)

Bouskila, Eliezer (‘Eli’)

Son of Yaish and Raymond. He was born on September 13, 1958 in Kiryat Shmona. Eliezer was the eldest son of the family, and over the years four more daughters and four sons were born. He began his studies at the Yesodei Torah school of independent education in the northern city. He excelled in his studies and moved to the high school yeshiva in Tiberias. But the longing for the family overwhelmed the boy, and he decided to continue his high school studies in his place of residence. For two years, he studied at the “Youth Center” and chose a trend of regrets: In his early adulthood, Eliezer was characterized by positive character traits, which quickly captured the hearts of teachers and friends. In sports, he did not abstain, and he found interest in many fields of activity: basketball, soccer (one of Hapoel’s local youth team), shooting and swimming, and always inspired his teammates not to give up on temporary failure, He was chosen as the chairman of the student council in his school, but he was a humble and quiet man, yes in his words and actions, pursuing justice and honesty. Eliezer was always dreaming of joining the ranks of the paratroopers, but his professional skill guided him to join the army, He was recruited in August 1976, underwent professional courses and later became a corporal. He served in the north, close to his place of residence, and was thus allowed to spend his short vacations with the family and with his close friends. He was sent to fill missions across the border, in Lebanon. He also took part in Operation Litani. On the 28th of Adar 5738 (6.4.1978), during the execution of one of his most difficult tasks in the field of road engineering, Eliezer fell in the line of duty. Was brought to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Kiryat Shmona. His commander wrote to the bereaved parents: “Eliezer was a good and disciplined soldier and fulfilled all the tasks he was assigned in a very efficient and efficient manner.” The family commemorated the establishment of a library in the hesder yeshiva in Kiryat Shmona. A “Friends’ Club” was also established in his memory at the “Youth Center” school in his hometown.
