Yossi began his elementary studies in his native country, and continued them in Ashkelon after the family immigrated to Israel in 1962. He completed his high school studies at the Ort Hanichim vocational school in Ashkelon. At the beginning of May 1972, Yossi enlisted in the IDF and served in the air force anti-aircraft unit. Since 1975, he has served against unitary units in various units. In June 1977 he joined the ranks of the career army for four years. He was released, but returned to service in 1984. During his service he married Tami and the couple settled in Ashkelon. Over the years their two children, Yair and Irit, were born. From 1987 until 1994, Yossi served in a corps of recruits of the Armored Corps against unit discipline. His commanders defined him against the armored corps’ leading discipline. Survived by his wife, son and daughter, parents, three brothers – Avraham (Albert) Sami and Haim and five sisters – Dina, Esther, Masoudi, Annette and Alice. His widow commemorated the introduction of a Torah scroll in his name to the synagogue in Ashkelon.
