Birman, Nahum


Son of Tova and Ben Zion. He was born in the city of Stolin, Poland in 1913. As a member of a traditional family, Nachum studied in a “cheder” and a “Talmud Torah” and acquired secular education at the Tarbut school. On the 25th of Iyar (June 2, 1940), Sergeant Nahum fell when on duty when he helped the head of a group of guards stop a fire set by Arab rioters in the wheat fields of a farm. Nachum was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery.
