Berman, Elisha
Elisha, son of Sarah and Mordechai, was born on April 28, 1947 in Tel Aviv, Elisha was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1965 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed basic training in the Armored Corps and completed his army service. He was sent to the tank commanders course after a relatively short period of time, successfully passing the course back to his unit, and becoming a talented commander who could combine friendly relations with imposing authority. This course ended with great success, and for a while he remained even in the Armored Corps School And later the head of the department.In periodic opinions, which are customary for officers in the IDF, Elisha received better than usual assessments. His commanders assessed him as an officer with command and leadership abilities, stable in difficult situations, devoted and responsible for carrying out his missions, and with excellent perception and broad professional knowledge. Despite his successes, Elisha decided to be released at the end of his regular service. In 1968 Elisha was released from regular service and began working in the nuclear reactor as a miner operator. Two years later he married Hedva, his girlfriend, and eventually they had two sons. A few months after his marriage, Elisha left his job at the nuclear reactor and was appointed as an administrative director in an engineer’s office. During the Yom Kippur War, Elisha took part in the difficult battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. On the 16th of Tishrei 5734 (16.10.1973), during an Armored Corps battle, his tank was hit and he was killed and brought to rest in the Beer Sheva cemetery, leaving behind a wife and two sons.
