Ben-Yehuda (Itzak), Yisrael
Yisrael Son of-Yehuda (Itzak), son of Esther and Yehuda, was born on the 20th of January 1911 in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. He served in the Estonian army in a tank company and was the only Jew in this company, and he also saw this as a preparation for his immigration to Eretz Israel, and during his military service he continued his connections with the Hehalutz movement and In 1933, when he was released from the army, he immigrated to Israel. He immediately changed his name to Son of-Yehuda. He joined the Poalei Eretz Israel Party and the Haganah. He also learned Arabic in recognition of the importance of knowledge in this language, as a devoted son who took care of his parents and wanted to prepare a home for them in their new country, and they finally arrived in Israel in May 1936. On the 5th of June, 1936, Yisrael stood guard at the Haganah position near the Shapira neighborhood, south of Tel Aviv. At midnight the neighborhood was attacked and a fire was fired at him and at his friend who was with him on guard duty, from the orchards bordering the neighborhood. On the following day, June 1936, Yisrael died of his wounds and was buried in the cemetery on Trumpeldor Street in Tel Aviv. He was survived by parents, two sisters.
