Ben-Shoshan, Yitzhak


Yitzhak, son of Hasiba and Rafael, was born on December 13, 1952, in Casablanca, Morocco. In 1962, he immigrated to Israel with his family and settled in Moshav Eliflet in the Galilee, and continued his studies at the agricultural school in the village of Shfeya. Until his enlistment in the IDF, he helped his parents develop the farm, and since he was about to continue his agricultural work, he studied at an agricultural high school and prepared to settle with his friends in a young moshav in the Golan Heights. Yitzhak was drafted into the IDF in early February 1971 and served in the Armored Corps, successfully completed courses and advanced training in all fields of the tank, was an outstanding tank commander and due to his command ability and organizational ability, he was appointed a divisional sergeant in a tank battalion. As a soldier willing to volunteer for any mission, even the most difficult, he was always ready to help others and was very fond of his commanders and soldiers. He planned to study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and even managed to enroll in the Institute He was a sergeant in a tank company that fought in the Golan Heights from the first moments of the war and was among those who stopped the Syrian onslaught in their bodies and armored vehicles until the reinforcements arrived in the Golan Heights. The team was wounded, Yitzhak rescued them and transferred them to the rear, found another tank in which he continued to fight, and with his unit left for a counter-attack into Syrian territory in battle for the conquest of Beit Jann on the 16th of Tishrei, 1973), his tank was hit and he was killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Tiberias. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
