Ben-Easti, Shimon

Shimon, son of Simcha and Machluf, was born on 14 June 1943 in Mazagan, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1955. After studying at the Kol Israel Haverim school in his hometown, he continued his studies after immigrating to Israel He was a good and thirsty student in the Kfar Silver High School, where he was a member of the Scouts movement, and here in Israel he was a sports enthusiast and an excellent swimmer. He spent many hours on the beach and participated a lot He loved nature and was especially interested in flora and fauna, and he was Simcha with his nature, sociable and willing to help others, and all his friends recognized him as honest and conscientious, Although he was a strong man with great physical strength, Shimon was modest, humble, and serious in his approach to life, and after completing his studies, he joined his comrades in Hulda, and was drafted into the IDF at the end of June 1962 and volunteered for the paratroopers. After completing basic training and after completing a parachute training course, he was assigned to the Infantry Unit in the role of Regam, and was a responsible and dedicated soldier. Took a tour abroad, participated in a march in the Netherlands and visited European countries. During the Six-Day War he participated in the conquest of Jerusalem together with his unit – a Paratroopers Unit. He was loved by his comrades-in-arms and was very attached to them. After the Six-Day War, he made a habit of visiting his injured comrades wherever they were in order to encourage them. As part of the reserve service, he was assigned to the Artillery Corps. He was going to marry him and raise a family. In the Yom Kippur War, Shimon was in the battles in the Golan Heights, with the paratroopers unit that later conquered the Hermon position. On the 4th of Nissan 5744 (4.4.1974), he died during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. Survived by his parents and brothers. His family and friends published a pamphlet in his memory containing verses and parables.
