Ben David, Guy


Son of Margalit and Simon. Born on 20 September 1976 in Kiryat Gat, a younger brother to Yossi, Leah and Orly. He grew up in Kiryat Gat. He studied at the Sprinzak Elementary School and at the Shalon High School. From the age of seven, Guy began to play in the municipal basketball team, which was accepted because of his great love for sport and his height. He played for the national team for many years, until his induction, and was very successful. Guy was very interested in motorcycles and waited impatiently for him to be sixteen years old so he could get a driver’s license and buy a motorcycle-and he did. From an early age he worked diligently and was independent and mature. Always surrounded by friends and loved by everyone, active and willing to help. Guy enlisted in compulsory military service in December 1994. At the beginning of his service Guy was not assigned to a combat unit due to medical problems, but it was important for him to be a fighter and raise his profile. The battalion commander described Guy as a caring and devoted soldier, who played his part, contributed to the development and advancement of processes instead of his service, and was popular and popular among the soldiers. When he returned home for vacations from the army he did not rest for a moment To do everything – to help his mother, meet friends and hang out. Guy fell in the line of duty on the sixth of Sivan (06.10.1997), in a road accident near the intersection of the Negev, while on his way home base on a motorcycle. After his death, Guy was promoted to sergeant. He was twenty-one when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Gat. Survived by his parents, brother and two sisters.
