Barak, Dotan

Dotan studied at Mitzpeh Elementary School and the Nofei Golan High School in Katzrin, in the geographic direction. He was a good student, without spending time and thought, a social leader and an outstanding athlete, a central figure among the children in the classroom, the playground, social activities and parties. He is active in the Hanoar Haoved movement, always surrounded by friends and lovers. At the age of 10, Dotan played in the Bnei Yehuda Basketball Association in the Kastel group and at the age of fourteen he played in the Alumni League, which was promoted from League C to League A. Dotan was known as an outstanding player among all the athletes in the north. His journeys on a motorbike from the age of sixteen increased the great youthful joy he had. One of his teachers at the high school noted that they were “wildness of youth and at the same time tough and opinionated.” In mid-March 1993, Dotan was drafted into the IDF and was asked to serve in the Golani Brigade. He was accepted to the brigade’s “crow” unit, but preferred to be a soldier in Battalion 13, where he felt proud and proud. At the end of the basic training he was sent to expand his combat training in a combat sergeant course and returned to his unit for the command staff. According to his unit members, Dotan was a prominent and active soldier, disciplined, always in excellent physical shape, who always practiced sports in his spare time. Dotan was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel and was sent to serve as the sergeant of a yeshiva class, although he was secular and never had a tradition and customs, and even feared this role, understood and respected the thinking and worldview of his subordinates.
