Son of Shoshana and Avraham, was born on December 14, 1961, in Even Shmuel, in the Lachish region, where the family moved to Bnei Brak and from there moved to Givatayim Uriya attended the Emunim elementary school in Givatayim and completed high school He was a member of the Bnei Akiva movement and studied in the central preparatory program for the yeshivas of this movement in Givat Shmuel, and after successfully completing the preparatory program, he continued his studies at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Kfar Haroeh. In January 1980, he joined the IDF and was sent to a pilot training course, and after completing a short training period he moved to serve in the Armored Corps. Most of his subordinates were soldiers from hesder yeshivas. When the war for the Galilee began, he went with his unit to the front in Lebanon. On the 18th of Sivan 5768 (August 1982) he led the brigade column in his tank. He moved at the top of the column, exposed in the tank turret. Near Ein Zahlata he encountered enemy tanks. Uriya managed to destroy a Syrian tank, but was hit by enemy fire and killed. He was 20 when he died. Uriya was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon, near the grave of his neighbor and the commander of his battalion, Lt. Col. Sefi Shauman, who fell in front of him during this war.
