Bar Rahav

Bar Rahav

Bar, Na’ama and Effie Rahav’s eldest son, was born on June 26, 1993, in the settlement of Ramat Yishai, in the northern Jezreel Valley. He attended the Arazim elementary school, and graduated with an excellent matriculation diploma in mathematics, physics and computers. He was an outstanding student, very beloved by all his teachers. His many friends liked to spend time with him and knew that he could be trusted with any need.
On March 20, 2012, Barr enlisted in the IDF and was offered a lighter service, as an outstanding athlete, but he refused and was assigned to the Artillery Corps. After almost two years in the army, Bar was sent to a course for squad commanders, which he passed successfully. In June 2014, after Hamas terrorists abducted and murdered three young men in Samaria, rocket fire from the Gaza Strip to Israel increased, and as a result, Israel launched Operation Tzuk Eitan against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Bar fell in battle during operation “Tzuk Eitan” on Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Kiryat Tivon, near his home town, leaving his parents, two brothers and a sister, and was raised to the rank of second lieutenant.
In February 2015, scholarships were awarded to outstanding students who fought in Operation Tzuk Eitan. The scholarships were donated by Ness Technologies, where Effi Rahav works, in memory of his son Bar. The Ramat Yishai Council, the community in which Bar grew up, decided to name the hiking trail around Ramat Yishai after him.
