At the end of the Second World War, he served in our commercial fleet until the outbreak of the War of Independence in 1947. When the fighting broke out, he volunteered for the Palmach, served in Givat Olga, in Caesarea, joined the “Furutzim” regiment of the Harel Brigade and participated in 56 battles in the Jerusalem area Among them: Operation Nachshon, escorting caravans between Kiryat Anavim and Jerusalem, three times on the Castel, the conquest of Kolonia, the conquest of Bidu, Beit Iksa, Deir Ayyub, the Radar (first battle), Saris Beit Sourik, Beit Mahsir , The break-in to the Old City, Sha’ar Hagai, the Castel, etc. In his last letter to his parents, he wrote: “I think that the greatest honor that a Jew who fought after 1800 years was to participate in the conquest of Mount Zion, Justice ancient city wall and connect with Jews.
