Bachrach, Doron


Son of Ruth and Peter, he was born on October 8, 1953 in Nahariya. Doron lived with his family in Haifa and studied at the Ramot elementary school in Ramat Shaul. He graduated from the high school at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and was a boy who was loved by all his friends. He was a member of the “Hanoar Haoved” youth movement and served as a counselor for young members of the youth movement, “Dudu. He loved the life of a tent and a bonfire, sports and hiking. He loved underwater fishing, where he excelled, and Doron was a quiet, modest, considerate, and dedicated young man, who served as a Gadna instructor at the Reali school. Before his enlistment in the IDF, he moved with his core for a few months to Ein Zivan to work in the economy. After graduating from the army in 1974, Doron began to study and work, and when he completed his studies in the engineering school and became an industrial engineer, he moved to Kfar Saba and served as the department head in a rubber-coated metal factory. His grandfather was one of its founders. Within a short time, Doron advanced and held a senior position in the factory. In 1977 he married his girlfriend Orit. In Kfar Saba his son was born. During the Peace for Galilee War, Doron joined his paratroopers. Doron fell on 2 Tamuz (23.6.1982) from the impact of shrapnel of a Katyusha, which fell among soldiers who organized an attack on the village of Al-Mansuriya on the Beirut-Damascus road, and seven of his comrades were killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa and a memorial in his memory was placed on the beach he loved – at the Institute for the Study of the Seas and Lakes in Shikmona.
