Avrech, Chana (Chanka)


Daughter of Naomi and Menashe, was born on the 7th of Adar 1929 in Moshav Giv’aton, in a year of crisis and distress for the workers in Israel. It was difficult to raise the sons of a family of workers who were struggling hard for their existence and clinging to a pioneering and superhuman effort in the homeland. In this spirit, the child grew up, and hence her deep rootedness and great mental strength in all her ways. Hanna completed her studies in the school for the children of workers and decided to continue to study agriculture and to this end she went to the agricultural school for girls in Einot. At the age of 10, she joined the Mahanot Ha’olim youth movement. She was very aware of everything that was going on in the Yishuv and shared her problems. In the school, she devoted herself to new immigrant students who had recently arrived in Israel and tried to ease their absorption and guidance. Was among the settlement nuclear initiatives established by graduates of these villages and with this nucleus it went to pioneering training for Maoz Haim. At the end of her training she joined Kibbutz Beit Ha’arava. Yaffa, developed and lively, energetic and energetic. She became one of the main characters in the kibbutz. After the kibbutz members were forced to abandon the Arava because of the worsening security conditions in the area, Hanna decided to stay with those who had been taken to Sodom in order to continue to fight and seize the Dead Sea. At the same time a friend fell in battle with Malkiya in the north, and she was horrified, but with her mental strength she continued her hard daily work without hesitation. A gang of Westerners attacked the passengers and killed five of them and parked among them. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
