Attias, Joshua
Yehoshua (Shuki), son of Simcha and Machluf, was born in 1952 in Meknes, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1963. was drafted into the IDF in early 1970. After completing his basic training he took part in a course for infantry and platoon commanders, In the army. The number of parachutes dropped was very high. He was strong in his body, strong, courageous, and very confident. He did not tell his family and friends much about his period of military service, as if all his actions in the army were a secret. He always cared for his soldiers and knew how to bring them closer, and they respected him greatly. During the Yom Kippur War, Shuki participated in the battle against the Egyptians on the Sinai front. On the 19th of Tishrei 5734 (October 19, 1973), he was wounded in the Serfaum district, west of the Canal. He went to head his unit to clean trenches. An Egyptian soldier who put himself dead shot Joshua in the head and chest and killed him. He was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He was survived by a father, six brothers and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. His family donated books, a table lamp and a chain to the synagogue in Tirat Hacarmel.
