Atkin, Aaron

Son of Sarah and David Shlomo. Born in Nisan in 1898 in Horodok, Vitebsk, White Russia, he studied at the Heder and later in a school, and later his parents moved to Lodz, Poland, and since their livelihood was not abundant, he had to earn a young age to buy textbooks. And at the age of 13 fled from the house, smuggled the border to Austria, and from there he reached the port of Trieste and sneaked into the ship sailing to Eretz Israel, where he offered his assistance. On September 14, 1938, he traveled with Chaim Shturman and David Mossensohn to establish a place for the settlements of Neve Eitan. On their way to Tirat Zvi, their car ran over a landmine, and the three of them were killed on the spot. Aharon was buried in Kibbutz Geva and left a wife and three sons, the youngest of whom fell in the Yom Kippur War.
