Atias, Shlomo


Shlomo, son of Rivka and Chaim, was born on 16.5.1954 in Tel Aviv and studied at the Shivtei Yisrael elementary school in Jaffa and at the Geula high school in Tel Aviv. Shlomo was an outstanding and young student with golden hands, friendly and always surrounded by friends and friends. He was a quiet, serious fellow in his attitude to life, responsible and devoted to any role he took upon himself. He acquired the affection of his friends in his quiet stability and in his comfortable manner. He was also very attached to his parents and family. He was tall and handsome, with great physical strength and blessed with technical skills. Shlomo was drafted into the IDF in early August 1972 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he successfully completed professional courses and became an outstanding tank crew member, and as a soldier he was devoted and disciplined. During the Yom Kippur War, Shlomo was part of a tank commanders’ course, and when the war broke out, he and his comrades were transferred directly to Sinai and took part in the difficult braking battles against the Egyptians and then fought in the battles for the Suez Canal and the bridgehead, On the eve of the success of the canal, the last battle in which Shlomo participated was near the “experienced “On the 16th of Tishrei 5734 (October 16, 1973), where many of his classmates fell. His tank was badly damaged while fighting the “lexicon” axis, and Shlomo was hit and killed. At first, Shlomo was declared a missing person, later a space whose burial place was unknown, and was finally brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery on Wednesday, November 18, 1974. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
