Asulin, Havatzelet (“Heftzi”)


Daughter of Chaim and Aliza. She was born on 18.11.1954 in Kibbutz Revivim. As a child, the family moved from the kibbutz and settled in the Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood of Rishon Letzion. Havatzelet studied at the Vitkin Elementary School and completed the literary track at the Gymnasium in Rishon Letzion. She was a keen pupil with great charm and liked her friends and teachers. The teacher from the Reali Gymnasium recalls that “Havatzelet was very active socially, and was very involved in the social classes, because the problems of the school, the school, the society and the state involved her very seriously. In many cases she was the spokesperson of the class and never accepted a wrong deed. ” Thus, for example, when the literature teacher asked to “punish” the class and not teach, Havatzelet took the initiative and volunteered to teach instead of the teacher. She was a well-known poet with all her youthful spirit and matured as an important deep-seated girl who spoke of her problems as an adult and her friends saw her as a loyal adviser. “Noar Haoved” and took an active part in the Gadna activities. She loved art, dance and music, and she wanted to make and contribute to the other. Havatzelet joined the Israel Defense Forces in late January 1973, and after her basic training she was assigned to the Chief Engineering Officer and tried to do her best to prepare for the future, to continue her studies at the university. On February 13, 1973, after a week of unconsciousness, Tarsh Havatzelet died while serving in the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion, and in a letter of condolences to the family, her commandant wrote: “A short time she served Havatzelet In the unit – – – but even in this short time we learned to recognize and cherish it. From the day she arrived at the unit, she had a good and friendly spirit for all the ministry’s employees. “
