Assouline, Abraham

Avraham, son of Chana and Chaim, was born on February 2, 1952 in Tel Aviv and studied at the Etzion Elementary School in Tel Aviv, where his teacher wrote that after his death his vibrant and lively character always appeared before her eyes “During classes, breaks and walks he was always smiling, cheerful and kind. After graduating from elementary school, I met him several times when he greeted me with joy. The last time I met him was near the Tel Aviv Municipality plaza and singing in his mouth (he said he was on his way to get a driver’s license on a scooter). I expressed my joy, congratulated him on the occasion, and even added a few sentences of caution on the road, as a teacher did. Abraham was Simcha, his eyes shone, and I thought to myself: “Indeed, my young disciples grew up and became a boy.” “I was proud that when I heard from his parents, brothers and friends that Avraham’s students behaved like a hero in his sick days, he made sure that those around him did not feel his pain and took the Lev of the doctors who treated him.” In mid-November 1969, Avraham was drafted into the IDF and joined the Golani brigade in July 1971. In July 1971, Avraham was wounded and on December 17, 1971, Avraham died. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, and in a letter of condolences to his parents, the commander of his unit wrote: “Avraham, who arrived in our unit nine months ago, was an active, devoted and joyful boy. These qualities enabled him to be easily absorbed both within the framework of his work and within the social framework, and to become a devoted and responsible soldier who serves as an example to his comrades, soldiers of the unit. We valued Avraham as a good and faithful fighter for his homeland and his memory will be accompanied by his commanders, and all the soldiers of our unit forever “
