Asraf, Yaniv
Son of Mazal and Masoud. Born on the 27th of Tammuz, July 6, 1975 in Be’er Sheva. He graduated with an honors degree in electrical engineering. In March 1994, Yaniv enlisted in the IDF, in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade. He served as a fighter and as a squad commander. In June 2002, he joined the Israel Police and served for three years at the Arad station in the Negev region. Over the years he advanced to the rank of First Sergeant. He contributed greatly to raising the prestige of the Israel Police in the eyes of the public. “In 2006, Yaniv was awarded the approval from the Chief Superintendent Yaki Artzi. Chief Superintendent Yechiel Bohadana, his commander, gave him another certificate of appreciation. Major Sergeant Yaniv Asraf was killed in the line of duty on the 8th of Iyar, May 12, 2011, at the age of thirty six. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. He was survived by his wife, daughter, son, parents, two brothers and a sister.
