Asher, Yosef


Yosef, son of Adela and Shlomo Asher, was born in Breslau, Germany on September 28, 1927, his parents moved from Galicia to Germany shortly after World War I. After the outbreak of the War of Independence, he enlisted in the Alexandroni Brigade and from the very first moment stood at the front of the fire and participated in many difficult battles, during which he was called back from the front and devoted himself to training soldiers. On the morning of 9 Tamuz, 16 July 1948, Legion forces attacked the outpost, artillery and armored vehicles and forced the company to retreat. Yosef fell in this battle and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
