Ariav, Omri


Son of Dov and Bruria. Was born in Ein Harod on September 28, 1927. He completed his studies at the Ein Harod and Tel-Yosef schools and grew up in an atmosphere of work and creativity in the agriculture, and was a member of the Hapoel basketball team and won medals And at the age of 17 he volunteered for the Jewish Brigade and stayed in Europe for his service. Upon his release, he returned to the kibbutz and worked in Deir. In 1948, during the War of Independence, he joined the Air Force and took part in the first course for pilots in Israel. At the end of the course, he was certified as a combat pilot in the IDF, and he moved to Kibbutz Kabri together with Ziona, his girlfriend, and his son was born there, and when he was a member of the Cemavire company he served as a pilot in spraying fields and orchards. He then returned to regular service, he fell in the line of duty. was laid to rest In the cemetery in Ein Harod, and the chief of staff gave him the rank of lieutenant on the day he fell. He left a wife and a two-month-old baby. Ein Harod published a book in his memory in 1950. In Beit Shean, a cultural center for youth called “Beit Omri” was established in Kfar Yehoshua, where a monument was erected in his name.
