Ben Ofra Ben Shaanan and Albert Amar. He was born in the town of Kiryat Shmona in 1942. He studied at the “Tel Hai” elementary school and continued his studies at the WIZO Agricultural High School Canada, “in Nahalal, said that his period of study at the agricultural school in Nahalal was the most beautiful and the most beautiful in his life, where he absorbed the smells of the village, enjoyed the work in the cowshed and joined the work of the land. He took his family with him in the Golan Heights, especially during the spring season, when he enjoyed the flow of the falls and the amazing blossoms. With his family, on every subject he asked his mother and his brothers and consulted when he had to make decisions, and when he had considered and thought, he acted as he had thought and saw fit He was an exceptionally sensitive, intelligent, brilliant man, Because he was in other literature and not in the physical world, he had a talent for looking at people and seeing things hidden beneath the surface, and his uncle was modest in his modesty, and he hardly asked for anything, clothes, property, and money did not interest him. Offered his help and gave to others, even if it was his last money. Surrounded by many friends from different worlds who sought his closeness; He always said that from each of them he gets something else that contributes to friendship. Everyone knew how to give the proper attention, invested and devoted himself, and provided the maximum sense of closeness. Throughout the years he maintained contact with everyone and even after his enlistment he made sure to visit his friends everywhere. After his fall, many friends came to his house claiming that his uncle was their best friend. His uncle loved life and not seven of them. He laughed a lot and lived without fear. Most of the time he behaved cheerfully as if there were no tomorrow, he sent a light feeling to all his friends and acquaintances, but his brothers and close friends knew that beneath the light vision, the amazing dimples and the perpetual smile that was smeared on his face he was hiding a serious and serious man who understood the difficulties of life, About him. Apart from his natural love, his uncle had other hobbies: he loved music very much, taught himself to play guitar and practiced for hours. His favorite band was the Pink Floyd, whose performance he appreciated. In an earlier period of his adolescence he would go up to the roof with his telescope and watch the stars. Another hobby he developed was photography: he saw things, landscapes and objects as only the eye of a photographer can tell. At the end of July 2000, his uncle enlisted in the IDF and became a combat engineering combatant, during which he participated in operational activities and filled various missions in Judea and Samaria – Tulkarem, Ramallah, etc. He often faced dangers and when his colleagues asked him to show greater concern for his personal safety, “Do not worry about me, there is no chance of me dying in the dirt of the cursed territories, but in Lebanon defending my home.” As a forerunner, he did not know what he had predicted … Become his affiliate tool. His commanders always said that his uncle and the D9 were one, like interlocking tools. His mother wondered how his thin, skinny uncle had such perfect control in such a huge and menacing instrument, and he would reassure her with the words “Mother, do not worry about me, the instrument is protected and huge and all steel, no weapon can do it.” He did not dream about missiles. He was calm and confident, and before every task he smoked a cigarette comfortably, taking it easy. Even in the war, in the middle of nowhere, during shooting and fighting, he would pause for a moment, taking a break from the commotionHe relaxed around him. Then he would go to work at the most serious, groundbreaking and defensive, not tired and not stop until the task was done in full and beyond. After his release from the army, he cultivated his dream of a big trip before school. “Youth is short and fleeting, they must be exploited, I can always learn and become institutionalized,” he said. On July 12, 2006, Hizbullah terrorists launched an artillery attack along the northern border, under the cover of which they attacked an IDF patrol, killing, injuring and abducting two reserve soldiers: Sergeant Ehud (Udi) Goldwasser and First Sergeant Eldad Regev Following the kidnapping of the soldiers and the fall of eight additional soldiers, the Israeli government decided to launch the Second Lebanon War, and the first week, according to the chief of staff’s decision, was followed by an air war. On July 19, 2006, a week after the abduction and many Katyusha rockets fired by Hizbullah, ground fighting began. When the war broke out and they still did not call him, his uncle was impatient and eagerly expected to enlist him. On July 24, 2006, the time came, and he and his unit arrived in Lebanon. Ironically, his life was picked up in a fraction of a second by a tool he felt so sure of. Dudu fell in battle in southern Lebanon on the eve of the cease-fire, on August 13, 2006. He was killed by a missile hit by the D9 bulldozer in which he was staying in the village of Qantara, while on his way to the task of opening a road to the forces in Wadi Saluki. With him fell Sergeant Yevgeny Timofeyev. His uncle, who grew up and lived in the north of Israel, was killed for the sake of protecting his home and he is twenty-five years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shmona. Survived by parents, three sisters and a brother. After his fall he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. The words were engraved on his grave: “And it shall be like a tree planted on streams of water, and its fruit shall be given in its time a son, a brother, and a beloved friend.”
