Alterman, Ze’ev (“Zevik”)
Son of Simcha and Hannah. He was born on April 28, 1948 in Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon. During his childhood, he suffered from illness, but over the years he overcame his illness and after he reached the age of Bar Mitzvah, he was vaccinated. After graduating from elementary school, he studied at the Iron High School in Hadera. He entered the social life and school system and “acclimated” – and teachers and students loved him. When he finished his studies he worked at home, in the plantation industry, and in this work he showed great devotion. In November 1967 he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the paratroopers’ paratroopers, and his parents suggested that he go to the Paratroopers or Nahal, but Ze’ev chose the paratroopers, saying: “Who will go to such a position if not like me?” His parents, who came to Israel two years before Zev was born and who suffered hardships during the Second World War, were Simcha to see their son serve in the Israeli army, as a devoted and disciplined soldier, excelling in his efficiency and dedication. But this happiness did not last long, because before he completed his compulsory service, he went on a reprisal against the Jordanian sabotage bases, known as the Karameh operation (a town east of the Jordan, from which the enemy saboteurs went to Israel). – and in this operation he died; This was on the 21st of Adar 5728 (March 21, 1968). He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Mishmar Hasharon. A booklet in his memory was published by the Mishmar Hasharon group.
