He was friendly to everyone, smiling and relaxed, yet very self-critical. Already in his early days in the unit he proved his ability to be balanced, and it soon became clear that his command ability was high. In his family, Shlomi was always the central figure. For his sisters he was the “thinking head of the family,” the good friend and the adviser on everything. When he came home for vacations from the army, his mother greeted him with love and pride, and his father used to call him “my soldier” and talk to him about all sorts of subjects, as well as a good friend. On Saturday night, 10 Tevet 5744 (10.12.1983), Shlomi went on a tour as an armored personnel carrier commander. When he was already on his way back to the post, a terrorist squad detonated a roadside bomb and Shlomi fell while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot. He left behind his parents and two sisters. In his memory, his family in the Danish neighborhood of Rehovot established a synagogue for North African immigrants, a large and magnificent spiritual center
