In order to implement this plan, Jerusalem returned to liquidate its affairs, but in the meantime the War of Independence broke out. These were the first days after the UN decision to partition the country and he joined the defenders, and when reinforcements were needed for the besieged Gush Etzion, he volunteered to leave despite being ill, and as a kind man, Among the defenders of Kfar Etzion, and on the day of the fall of the village, on the 4th of Iyar 5708 (May 13, 1948), he was also a fallen soldier. On the fifteenth day of Merhaven 5710 (17.11.1949), he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
