Aharonov, Moshe (Moshele)

Moshe, son of Nazira and Jacob Aharonov, was born on the 5th of Tevet 5725 (August 18, 1925) in Beirut, Lebanon. In 1947, immediately after the outbreak of hostilities, he served as a squad leader in the “Moriah” battalion of the Etzioni Brigade, Jerusalem district, and took part in the fighting in Jerusalem and its environs. On 9 Iyar (05/18/1948), at the age of twenty-three, Moshe fell. He was survived by his mother, brother, and three sisters. His body was not found. A month and a half later, on June 30, 1948, two bodies that the Jordanians had taken were returned to the State of Israel through the Red Cross. The Levi family identified the body of their son, and he was buried in the cemetery in Sanhedria.
