Abutbul, Yaakov (Jack)

Yaakov (Jack), son of Esther and Shimon Abutbul, was born in 1927 in Haifa. As a youth, he joined the Hanoar Haoved movement. He participated in the battles of Ein Zeitim, the conquest of Safed and the battles in the Mishmar Hayarden region. Yaakov was killed on 3 Tamuz (July 10, 1948) in Operation Brosh in a fight to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden area. Yaakov was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
