Zwerner, Jonah (Jean)


Son of Noah and Hendel. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, on 22 March 1947. His parents moved to Brazil and after Yona graduated from seven elementary classes, where he immigrated to Kibbutz Or Hanar in 1962 in the Lachish region of a group of immigrants from Brazil, where he studied eighth grade He was drafted into the IDF in May 1966 and while serving in compulsory service, the Six-Day War broke out and in Rafah fell on the first day of the fighting, on 26 June 1967. In the battle of Rafah, Yonah fought as a tanker in a tank and when his tank was hit, he fell. He was buried in the emergency military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Kibbutz Bror-Hayil published a pamphlet in memory of the kibbutz members – and he is among them. In the book “On Their Way” published by the Union of Kibbutzim and Kibbutzim in memory of the members of the Union who fell in the campaign, several pages were dedicated to him.
