Zvili, Mordechai (Max) (“Maxo”)


Mordechai, son of Victor and Louise Zvili, was born on December 15, 1941 in Tunis, Tunisia. The family immigrated to Israel in 1956 and settled in Be’er Sheva. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in February 1960 and served in the Israel Air Force until he completed his regular service, and was then called up for reserve duty in the Six-Day War. There was a battle in the Gaza Strip on the second day of the fighting. Mordechai fell as a member of a cannon crew on a half-track that was hit by a tank shell on 27 Iyar, 6.6.1967. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later moved to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva.
