Zuckerman, Yitzhak (“Tzuko”)

Son of Binyamin and Rachel. He was born on April 16, 1942 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The days were World War II, but despite the horrors of war there were no child-related disorders. From an early age, Yitzhak was curious about everything around him and from the beginning of his studies showed a great deal of diligence that showed him as a talented student. At the age of eight, in 1950, the family immigrated to Israel and the child was Simcha in it despite the difficult conditions in the immigrant home in which they were housed. The child was full of feeling that the land was his home and while his mother had scolded him for wrong behavior and warned him that if he continued to do so they would return to Romania, and he replied with tears: “You alone will come back. He studied at the Arlozorov Elementary School in Hadera, but because he found it difficult to study because his mother tongue was not Hebrew, he was admitted to Kibbutz Gesher in the framework of Youth Aliyat, where he completed his studies in elementary school and continued his studies at Beit- Middle School. In the life of the kibbutz, Yitzhak grew up later, too, when he was in the army, his character was revealed, when he had more strength than he could have known before. From a warm relationship and an attitude of Zionist enthusiasm, he was very active in the youth movement and the Hanoar Haoved movement, and even invested himself in work in the economic life. He would have set himself difficult challenges – and made efforts to overcome them. Just as he knew how to demand from himself to make demands on others. He would express a critical opinion about things he did not like and he fought for principles that were not seen to him, but when he recognized his mistake he could admit it and was even persuaded to accept the opinion of his friends. He was a young man, but despite his age Yitzhak was a firm pillar in the kibbutz society, but not only his strong character, but his good temperament also had an influence on the agriculture, and his daughter, who was hovering on his lips. In July 1960 he was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces and joined the Israel Air Force, but when he completed his flight course, on the 4th of Adar 5762 (April 4, 1962), he fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest at the Kibbutz Gesher cemetery. In his memory, he appeared in a kibbutz in “Thirty” to his death.
