Zubari, Meshumar (Meshi)


Ben Sarah and Tzadok (Salach). Was born on March 14, 1953 in Gedera, the eldest son of his parents. He studied at the state elementary school in Gedera and continued his studies at the regional high school in the area. He was a friendly and active child, and when he grew up, he became a devoted family member who supported his parents and brothers and was willing to help others beyond the family circle. His nickname for relatives and friends was ‘silk’. His main hobby was sports. He was active in the field of soccer and played for the local Betar team, and in addition to his athletic activities, he was also a member of the workers’ council. In May 1971, he was drafted into the IDF and was assigned to serve in the Maintenance Corps as a driver, during which he took part in preparing his unit for the Jerusalem march and took part in battles in Sinai during the Yom Kippur War. He married and had three children, Eyal, Aviv and Shiran. After completing his regular service in December 1974, he joined the ranks of the career army, and during his service served as a transport noncom and reached the rank of major sergeant. Mishmar lived with his family in Eilat. He fell during his service on the 6th of Sivan 5749 (9.6.1989) and was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Gedera. He was survived by a wife, three children, a mother, five sisters – Yona, Yehudit, Ruti, Israela and Miriam, and three brothers – Reuven, David and Shlomo.
