Zorno, Ronen


Ben Simcha and Shaul. He was born on 27.1.1970 in Ashkelon. Immediately after his birth, his family moved to Moshav Even Shmuel, where he grew up and was educated. From the end of his studies at the yeshiva until his induction into the army, he had an eight-month vacation, which he used for agricultural work in the Mount Hebron area. During that period, he was involved in a lot of intensive sports and long runs every day, in order to prepare himself for one of the elite and combat units in the IDF. Ronen was drafted in late February 1988. He completed basic training in the Golani reconnaissance unit, left the commando unit and moved to the Raven Company in Golani, where he completed a course for commanders and the course of Ravav as an outstanding trainee. And trained soldiers from the various brigades, but continued to maintain close contact with Golani’s Raven Company, and he did everything to return to his original unit, and Ronen returned to his unit as a company commander. He took the entire course with the company as an officer in hard and arduous training and maintaining a line in Lebanon. Ronen was admired for his soldiers and subordinates and was known as an excellent officer, friend, father and friend. He was appointed company commander, and for a period of time served as company commander Ronen successfully navigated the company in all the difficult tasks that were imposed on that special unit, all of which he did with a smile and during his spare time played a guitar from the songs of the country he loved so much. (29.10.1991) Ronen embarked on his last mission, in order to disrupt the operations of the terrorists and Hezbollah, in which the armored personnel carrier was hit by a powerful explosive charge and Ronen fell in battle with two outstanding fighters and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Gat . Ronen was promoted to captain after his death. Survived by his parents, three sisters and a brother – Maya, Revital, Dikla and Aviel. Defense Minister Moshe Arens and Minister of Education and Culture Zevulun Hammer sent letters of condolence. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the head of the Upper Galilee Regional Council wrote: “As residents of the Galilee who live daily fighting our enemies across the border, we appreciate the wonderful work of IDF soldiers, which always involves the danger of lives. A necessary condition for the existence of settlements in the north. There is no consolation for losing a young life. “We express our sorrow for your great pain.” Golani Brigade Commander Col. Neve Yair wrote to the family: “Ronen was characterized as a fighter and an officer of the first rank, a first volunteer for every routine and operational mission, he loved his soldiers and they loved him. To be a commander, he began to lead the team, which nurtured leadership over the meaning of the word, made sure that he was small in the operational routine, in training and operational activity, on the one hand, and in the embrace of love and support for soldiers on the other.
