Zohar, Gabriel (“Gabi”)

Zohar, Gabriel (“Gabi”)

Son of Yosef and Sava. Born in 1946 in Casablanca, Morocco, with family ownership, he attended elementary school in 1955. In November 1963 he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Armored Corps. Was a mechanic by profession and served in the Border Police. He was faithful and diligent, fulfilling his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders. Always stood out for his courage and willingness to help his friends. His commander noted him as a member of the Border Police who “was involved in matters of routine security and knew the importance of the State Security Guard, and he did not hesitate to volunteer for any role, even for a moment, and it would be very difficult and dangerous.” It was acceptable to them and his friends, since he knew how to link public relations and reports. After his discharge from the army, he would occasionally go to reserve duty and when he was found he encountered a squad of sappers and fell; It was in the Neot Hakikar area on the 5th of Iyar 5728 (May 3, 1968) and left a wife, who was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
