Zohar, Chaim Chai


Ben Meira and Yehuda. Born on March 4, 1976 in Jerusalem, the second son of a family of three, Chaim was named after his grandfather, Chaim Grossberg, who fell in defense of Jerusalem during the War of Independence in 1948. He attended the “Ramat Sharet” elementary school and the Boyar high school, and successfully completed his matriculation exams in biology. Chai was endowed with sensitivity, kindness, and was very beloved among his friends and friends. He was a nature and hiking enthusiast, participated in the science-loving circle of the Hebrew University of Givat Ram in Jerusalem and was active in the Department of Nature Protection. He traveled a lot and always immortalized in his camera the special and distant places he loved. Chai was gifted with a sense of distinction, sensitivity and precision in the art of photography. Most of all, he loved the tours and excursions in the desert, where he noticed rare flowers and birds, hidden between the rocky shores. He photographed the waterfalls, cliffs like statues, colored sunsets, trees kneeling in the snow. At home he raised and cultivated various ornamental fish. Chai aspired to volunteer for an elite combat unit. A year before his enlistment, a medical injury was discovered in his leg and he underwent surgery in order to increase his physical ability and realize his desire to contribute to the people and the country as he was raised. At the beginning of August 1994, Chai was drafted into compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces and was assigned to the Signal Corps, where he was assigned to the position of a wireless operator, but he refused to serve in the combat unit. He was pleased with his appointment, but after a while, he showed interest and motivation, his performance in the unit improved, and he was even praised by his commanding officer. (7.10.1994) fell alive during his service and was put to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl In Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and two sisters – Hila and Hadas. He was eighteen years old when he fell. The commander of the unit said: “During the eight weeks of basic training, your life changed from one person to the next, and you went through a hard and demanding framework. As the weeks passed, you were able to improve your work, and on the last journey, on the evening before you died, you helped and pushed your friends who had difficulty walking … “On the seventh day of his death, his sister wrote:” Crying, not going any more. You will take care of the beloved fish / who will no longer laugh with friends. “A small portion of the estate was developed by the parents for a photo exhibition, which reflects little of the beauty of the country and the beauty of the talent that was taken from us.
