Zlatin, Avraham


Avraham, son of Dina and Meir Zlatin, was born in 1916 in Jerusalem. He was educated there in an orphanage, and when his time came to study, he chose carpentry and specialized in it. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, he volunteered for the Nutras, and served in the Jewish settlements police. During the Second World War he volunteered for the British army, where he served mainly as a cook. He was released and returned to his profession after nine years of continuous service in the army. During the War of Independence he was one of the defenders of Jerusalem. On July 7, 1948, he was sent to Katamon. In a road accident he fell over his motorcycle, his hand broke, and on the way to the doctor was hit by a shell and died on the spot. He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. He left behind a wife, Miriam, and three children. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
