Zion, Gideon (“Mahala”)

Zion, Gideon (“Mahala”)

Son of Yosef and Mazal. Was born on December 30, 1950 in Tel Aviv. He completed his studies at the “Habonim” Elementary School in the name of David Bloch and continued his studies at the “Amal” vocational high school – both in Tel Aviv. From his youth he was educated for a life of toil. During his studies at the vocational school, he combined studies and crafts and worked in his field of specialization – fine mechanics. He was a sensitive, gentle-minded boy, and in all his ways he behaved honestly and sincerely. While still in his parents’ home, it was evident that he aspired to a better world, striving hard, consistently and persistently, for perfection in all his actions. His actions were calculated and planned in advance. Always respect others. He was a cheerful, Simcha boy, close to his parents and all his family, and the whole family concentrated around him. In February 1969 he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Armored Corps On October 3, 1969, Gidon fell in battle during the shelling of the Suez Canal area and was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery. A Torah scroll was inserted for his soul to the Magen David synagogue in Tel Aviv, and his family published a booklet in his memory bearing his name.
