Gedalyahu, son of Chasia and Joseph, was born on May 9, 1932, in Bialystok, Poland, where he and his family immigrated to Israel in 1935. The family settled in Ra’anana where Gedalyahu studied at the elementary school. At that time, Ra’anana was a small colony surrounded by fields and orchards, and like all the pioneers at the time, his father worked in paving roads, harvesting orchards and other fieldwork. And was a friendly child, full of joie de vivre and involved with his friends, and was a diligent and outstanding student in all subjects In elementary school, he was able to work for the public, taking on the organization of parties and social events, helping to study for students who found it difficult and he was active in the various committees of the school. Gedaliah was not satisfied with social activity and was very interested in sports activities. He joined the Ha-Po’el organization and immediately became a central figure. His friends, Zvi Zwilling and Drucker, say that in his first steps in the society, he stood out as a gifted, discerning and understanding leader. He had a clear mind, an analytical ability, and a rare articulation skill. Thanks to these qualities, he soon became the first person in the group, whose opinion was heard and accepted without question. Despite his young age, he always influenced his friends, and even older people would dismiss his opinion. His constant preoccupation with public affairs took most of his spare time, but he was nevertheless a devoted and loyal son to his parents and a brother who understood and taught his sisters. There were deep ties of love between him and his family. At the end of his studies he decided to go to work to help support the family. Without hesitation and without hesitation, he was hired by the “excavator” company, and for a long time he worked hard and paid his entire salary to help his family. Gedalyahu was drafted into the IDF at the end of May 1950 and volunteered for the infantry corps, where he completed various courses and was trained as a combat soldier, and in the army he became outstanding as a combat soldier and was soon sent to a course for squad commanders. He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant before the end of his regular service, and was awarded only to outstanding soldiers in compulsory service. Gedalyahu began to fight the phenomenon of young people leaving the moshavah, and after he was elected as the representative of the youth in the various institutions, he began to work to improve the quality of life and to provide suitable sources of income. In the Yom Kippur War, Gedalyahu served with his unit as a company sergeant. On February 12, 1974, he was injured while carrying out his duties and was killed. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ra’anana. He left behind a wife and three children, parents and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
