Zimmer, Israel (“Iri”)
Son of Herman and Paula. He was born on 5 April 1946 in Romania and immigrated with his family to Israel from Poland in 1957. He studied at the Achva elementary school in Be’er Sheva and from the seventh grade was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. Until he completed his studies at the Amal vocational high school in Be’er Sheva, where he was drafted into the IDF in early August 1964 and assigned to the Ordnance Corps. After his release from regular service he was called for periods of reserve duty. In June 1971, he was called to active reserve duty and on the 14th of Tammuz, 5771 (14.7.1971), a corporal of Israel fell while serving in the south. He left a wife and a baby about a year old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva.
