Zikinovsky, Arie (“Arik”)

Son of Sarah and Menahem. He was born on 10 October 1950 in Haifa, where he completed his high school studies at the Municipal High School in Haifa and was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement. “For only nine months, during his brief service, he proved himself to be an outstanding soldier, and loved everyone he knew, his main interests being security and military matters. (30.4.1970), fell during an enemy bombardment in the area of the Suez Canal and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery. In a letter of condolences to the family, the battalion commander wrote, among other things: “Aryeh came to us recently, but immediately acclimated to the unit. He was also a good and devoted friend to his friends, who loved him very much and his commanders all liked him and knew that they had a soldier who could be trusted. We knew him all and knew his good qualities and accomplishments. A bold and courageous soldier was a Aryeh and so fell, as of April 30, in a ditch in the ditch. Aryeh was the first to discover an Egyptian force trying to attack the stronghold. He fought like a Aryeh and fell heroically. In his act and devotion to his mission, Aryeh determined the results of the battle. “One of Aryeh’s comrades wrote after his fall:” He was honest and loving justice, and in all matters pertaining to his integrity he was uncompromising. He could not tolerate the discovery of an act of injustice or of discrimination. It may have been sharp in his reactions, but he was always right. “Lists of Aryeh’s memoirs were published in Yaniv Hatalmid, the newsletter of Ironi Aleph High School in Haifa, on the first anniversary of his fall and on the second anniversary.
