Zik-El, Rafael


Son of Yitzhak and Ella. He was born on August 28, 1924 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He attended primary schools in Weissbaden and Cologne and in a high school in Darmstadt. He immigrated to Israel in 1938 and joined the Haganah immediately after his arrival. He belonged to Hashomer Hatzair. In 1944, during World War II, he entered the British Navy and was promoted to the rank of NCO, and after his discharge in 1946 he set sail for the United States to study in the mechanics profession. However, at the outbreak of the War of Independence he returned to Israel and joined the IDF (February 1948) He served in the permanent army. In 1952 he was sent for a period of one and a half years by the army for training in England. Was withdrawn and did not intervene in the company. He died on 19 June 1954 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
