Zidner, Amir
Son of Naomi and Michael. He was born in Switzerland, Switzerland on January 29, 1969. At the age of six, he returned to Israel with his family to their home in Motza Ilit, where he studied at the Ein Harim Elementary School and graduated with honors from the Yehuda Yehuda Regional High School, He was a drummer from the age of 14. He was always a living spirit in his environment, both in school life and in the company of his peers in Motza Ilit, very well-liked and humorous. Social, wrote poems and stories, and was a conversationalist with many subjects: a talented and caring young man who hated mediocrity, Amir was a diver and an excellent skateboarder. He volunteered for a ski trip in Switzerland and Hermon with his two younger brothers, and in February 1987 he joined the Armored Corps, forming the mainstay of the company, and in mid-February 1988 he went with his battalion to the security zone in southern Lebanon. On the night of the third day of the month of Adar 5748 (February 22, 1988) he fell in combat in Lebanon and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and two younger brothers – Alon and Oren. His family and those who cherished his memory commemorated him in the establishment of Gan Amir in Motza Ilit, with playground facilities, seating areas and a small amphitheater, in the shade of a grove of olives and figs. Many residents of the area visit the park with their children.
